Saturday, April 30, 2011. With the classic dreads and soothing island voice that can only be claimed by a Marley, Ziggy Marley got the crowd swaying today at Sunfest's Bank of America Stage. The reggae star sang hits from his solo career including "Love Is My Religion" and gave the audience a performance that would make even the most stressed of viewers feel at ease.
Marley did his music royalty father Bob Marley proud with renditions of "Get Up Stand Up" and "Is This Love?" The eight piece ensemble included Ziggy on guitar and lead vocals along with two additional guitars, bass, drums, percussions, brass and female vocals. One of the many highlights of the afternoon was "Black Cat" featuring a sizzling hot wah wah guitar solo.
Encores included "Look Who's Dancing" and wrapped up with Ziggy introducing new song "Forward To Love" from his forthcoming album expected to hit stores in June. Love was definitely in the air and Marley was the perfect mix in the Sunfest lineup. Ziggy Marley's next stop is in Memphis at the Beale St Music Festival.
