"We’re really stoked to get back out on tour,” says singer Jared Watson. “We took the summer off to record the new album, so we’re excited to play new music. Plus, I think the mix of THE DIRTY HEADS and Gym Class Heroes is going to make for a filthy show.”
THE DIRTY HEADS--Dustin Bushnell (vocals/guitar), Jared Watson (vocals), Jon Olazabal (percussion), Matt Ochoa (drums), David Foral (bass)—were called one of Rolling Stone's “Best New Bands of 2010.” Their debut single, “Lay Me Down,” spent 11 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s “Alternative Songs” chart, holding the record for the longest reign at #1 for an indie label and remained in the chart’s history. It remained in the Top 12 for another 39 weeks after that. And the song has been heard over 250,000 times on radio stations across the U.S. THE DIRTY HEADS has been heard in numerous TV shows and movies including “Horrible Bosses,” “Surf’s Up,” “Shark,” Surfer Dude,” “Blue Crush 2” and “Rob Drydeck’s ‘Fantasy Factory.’” They’ve also been featured in “The SIMS” and “Tap Tap Revenge” video games. Since the release on the Executive Music Group label via Fontana/Universal, their debut album, ANY PORT IN A STORM, has sold nearly 200,000 copies nationwide. Produced by Steve Fox and Stan Frazier, and mixed by Beastie Boys’ producer Mario C., the album features one of the last recorded performances by legendary Beatles collaborator Billy Preston.
On the social media front, the band’s website, Twitter, Facebook and Myspace have been viewed over 8 million times. The videos on their YouTube page have been viewed over 12 million times (5 million for the official videos, 3 million for the video of “Lay Me Down” and one million for the video of “Stand Tall”). Thanks to the band’s constant interaction on these sites, fans have come out in droves to catch them on the road. They’ve sold over 300,000 tickets in the U.S. and Canada in 2010 alone.
