After performing together at the opening night of The Factory (U.K.) in February 2010, PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT have toured mainland Europe, Australia, New Zealand, the U.K. including festival appearances. Last December, the group--which features PETER HOOK, legendary bassist and founding member of Joy Division/New Order on vocals and bass, JACK BATES (bass), NAT WATSON (guitar), ANDY POOLE (keyboards) and PAUL KEHOE (drums)--toured the U.S. for critically acclaimed run performing Joy Division’s debut album UNKNOWN PLEASURES of which SPIN noted, “the band filled ‘Love Will Tear Us Apart’ with an ecstatic thunder the original never touched.” (Reyan Ali, 12/1/10). Produced by Martin Hannett, both UNKNOWN PLEASURES and CLOSER have enjoyed immense critical acclaim and are widely considered influential post-punk and new wave classics. The influence of both albums is longstanding and remains pervasive today, both for fans and the many emerging artists who take on the template of Joy Division’s sound in the modern era. CLOSER yielded many landmark Joy Division tracks including “Atrocity Exhibition,” “Heart And Soul” and “Twenty Four Hours.”
PETER HOOK & THE LIGHT released their debut EP 1102/2011 digitally this spring on Hacienda Records, available exclusively CLICK HERE. The EP features a previously unreleased Joy Division song titled “Pictures In My Mind” as well as new renditions of “Atmosphere,” “New Dawn Fades,” and “Insight.”
On Thursday, September 15, PETER will make a special appearance in Los Angeles for an in-store signing at Amoeba Records (6400 Sunset Blvd. Hollywood, CA 90028) to celebrate the release of the new double red vinyl & CD live album Unknown Pleasures Live In Australia out now on Pylon Records.
