August 7, 2012. The Marshall Tucker Band family is mourning the loss of longtime band member and guitarist Stuart Swanlund.  Swanlund passed away in his sleep at his Chicago home this past Saturday, August 4, 2012.  Swanlund died of natural causes.

Swanlund joined The Marshall Tucker Band in 1985 where his slide guitar work added a new dimension to the band – on newer material as well as standards like “Searchin’ For A Rainbow,” “Can’t You See,” and “Fire On The Mountain.” "Stuart, or 'Stubie' as we called him, was the longest standing member of The Marshall Tucker Band from 1985, onward," says Marshall Tucker Band founding member Doug Gray.  "He recently took a hiatus from the road due to health problems and even with those issues, Stuart's enthusiasm onstage never waivered.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Stuart's family and those who knew him.  We have lost a great friend."

E-mail Print PDF
Bruce Springsteen

August 2, 2012. The following has been excerpted and edited from a note by George Travis to the Wrecking Ball Tour Crew:

We are heading home with 51 shows behind us; 11 states, 15 countries, 33 stadium shows and festivals and over 1,650,000 people. And now our US/Canadian outdoor stadium run is about to kick-off… This is a note of acknowledgement to all the men and women that are or have been a part of this UK/European leg of our tour.

A huge thank you to the bus and rig drivers, the caterers, the shops and offices of our vendors … you’ve gotten us everywhere on time, while feeding us incredibly delicious food and keeping us afloat. Thank you for being some of the best we’ve ever had!

We are over 100 people working and traveling together on this tour, as well as the hundreds more we deal with in venues from every city we travel to. We are all part of what may be the biggest and best group of musicians traveling on the road today, and we end each night knowing there are a lot of fans going home with memories they’ll talk about for the rest of their lives. So, thank you to Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band and to all the fans who are responsible for us to have this great job. The bar has always been set pretty high and we’re hoping to push it even higher.  Read the full excerpt on brucespringsteen.net

THE OUTLAWS Declares ‘It’s About Pride’ On Their First New Album In 18 Years, Due Out September 25

E-mail Print PDF
THE OUTLAWS

July 23, 2012 -- For THE OUTLAWS (@outlawsmusic), it’s not only about the music they’ve made for decades, it’s also about the pride they’ve always put into creating their legacy.  As purely evidenced on their much long-awaited sixth studio album, IT’S ABOUT PRIDE is due out September 25 on Rocket Science Ventures.  “Tomorrow’s Another Night,” the album’s first single, is being serviced to radio on August 20.  The band known for their triple-guitar Rock attack and three-part Country harmonies finally returns to the music scene with their first new studio album since 1994’s DIABLO CANYON (Blues Bureau International).

During the last 40 years, the Southern Rock legends--founding singer/songwriter/guitarist Henry Paul and drummer/songwriter Monte Yoho along with lead guitarist Billy Crain, co-lead guitarist Chris Anderson, keyboardist/vocalist Dave Robbins and bassist/vocalist Randy Threet—have celebrated triumphs, endured tragedies and survived legal nightmares to remain one of the most influential and best-loved bands of the genre.  Now THE OUTLAWS are back with new music, a new focus and an uncompromising new mission:  it’s about a band of brothers bound together by history, harmony and the road.  It’s about a group that respects its own legacy while refusing to be defined by its past.  Most of all, it’s about pride.
